I hold on hard
to something between my teeth
when I am sleeping.
I wake up and my jaw aches
and the world is filled
with earthquakes.

My mother tried to out me last night. I have 17 days left in her home and she tried to out me. But I keep my secrets somewhere in the back of my throat. Locked behind my jaw and clenched behind my teeth. And at night I grind them until they are the sparks of my dreams.
