I think that Bloombergs impending ban on smoking in bars and restaurant/bars is unfortunate and based solely upon the fact that he so rarely goes out to bars that he forgets what the point of them is. Bars = Alcohol + Smoke. Bars are about pleasure not politics. You do not go into bars expecting them to smell of roses and lilac. New York (Fucking) City isnt Disney Land. The a concern for the more than 400,000 nonsmoking New York City workers who currently risk cancer, lung disease and heart disease just to hold a job assumes that these people are stupid and did not themselves make the decision to acquire the job in the first place. Personally, I go to bars specifically to smoke. And you know, Ive never once heard a bartender cough. Any adult who chooses a profession in this industry should have foresight enough to understand the consequences of such. I think that each bar should have a right to decide whether or not it wants to enact the ban. If so many non-smokers are complaining they should switch profession of find a bar that is completely non-smoking or move to California. You know... in face of this new prohibition perhaps I'll just open a speakeasy of sorts. .
